I just discovered this wonderful blog A Girl and Her Yarn and she has some free hat and scarf patterns that you might wish to try.

Unfortunately it's that time of year again; time to start thinking about those who need a little help dealing with the elements as the weather changes. I've started a personal hat, headband and scarf challenge. Where has the summer gone, can you believe that it's officially fall? I'm in denial so don't expect to see a lot of activity on this thermometer until the temperature starts to take a drastic change for the worse... winter... burrrrrrrrrrr.
I was bound and determined to finish off a blanket I started a couple of months ago, ta dah, here's the latest blanket. The blanket is constructed of a series of plain granny squares assembled by using the join-at-you-go technique.
I've finally reached my goal for the year with 3.5 months left to go. Let's see how many more blankets I can make by the end of the year.
