My "Daisy" Blanket…if you are in a position of not having sufficient yarn for a larger square all you need for this square is a small length for the centre and sufficient yarn to make the petals and borders. If you are interested in making your own daisy square blanket you can find a tutorial on Pinterest.
I'm currently have three projects on the go, what can I say but I get bored easily….LOL Granny squares form the basis of all three blankets. Over time I've accumulated a collection of odd skeins and I was looking for ways to put them to use. These projects allow for a mixture of colours and quantity of yarn. Voila an easy way to de-stash. I love quilts but sewing is not my forte. Here’s a way of quilting using crochet squares. I’m making a “puzzle” quilt. I’m using this image I found on Pinterest as a guideline. For this blanket I’m making 3 row granny squares. It’s been quite a while since I’ve made a blanket using the “join-as-you-go” method so when I saw this blanket on Pinterest I thought it would be an interesting way of whittling down those larger odd skeins of yarn. I'm making 6 strips of 8 - 6 row squares. Here’s how far I’ve gotten… My goal is to finish at least two of these blankets by the end of September. I’m giving myself plenty of time as I can no longer crochet for long periods of time. Stay tuned for the final creations.

Without air conditioning I find it too hot to work on a continuous project until the end of summer so it’s all about squares. Working with squares is also a great way to de-stash. If you’re like me then you probably have a lot of odds skeins leftover from projects or skeins you inherited from someone clearing out their stash…LOL Here’s what I’m doing with my skeins….8” square, and when there’s insufficient left on the skein for a 8” square what’s left over becomes a 3 row square or centre for another project.
I apologize for my absence but as they say “life gets in the way”… While I was away I started a couple of projects which are now on hold until the fall when things cool down. I find it too work on a continuous blanket during the summer months. Way too hot... I started this as a charity blanket but recently completed the blanket as a birthday present. In the fall I would like to start another one for a shelter.
