Welcome to the Brampton & Greater Area (GTA) Chapter of Warming Families!!!
Find out how you can craft or donate warm items for those who are homeless, displaced or in nursing homes.
Items collected are donated to two shelters in the GTA area: the Honeychurch Family Life Resource Centre a shelter for women and children; Wilkinson Road Shelter, a homeless shelter; and , a shelter for women and children, both shelters are administered by the Salvation Army. When there is a special project additional shelters in the GTA will receive the overflow items.
2020 A New Reality. Stay Safe, stay well and please continue to physical distance.
It may be May but winter if still holding on. We’ve experienced snow, rain and temperatures more suitable to late winter all the way to seasonal norms.
COVID 19 has thrown us a curveball and because our movements are restricted this is the perfect time to get out the knitting needles or crochet hook and whip up items for the shelters. Blankets or slippers are perfect items to focus on right now. I have stopped collecting winter items, e.g. hats, gloves and scarfs until next November.
Stay safe and well.
