We’ve been fortunate in that she has been permitted to offer door prizes. That’s a real incentive for us to return each month...LOL Today I won few balls of yarn (picture on right hand side). I think I know how I will put them to use but I suspect I will need to purchase a bit more of the yarn in order to complete the project, we’ll see. At a previous meeting I won 4 balls of the green which is being used in one of my current WIP’s (left hand picture). Nothing like another yarn addict enabling another one...LOL
Hello my name is Dalyce and I’m a yarn addict. Although I collect for Warming Families occasionally I help out with other charities. One of the members of the Toronto Hookups Guild is responsible for the Blankets 4 Canada project hosted out of the Michael’s store at the Dixie Value Mall in Mississauga, ON. Once a month a few of us take the squares that have been dropped off by customers and turn them into blankets. If you wish more information please go to Becky’s B4C page which can be found on her blog, Fantasticmio.

Confused? Don’t be. The count remains the same since I’ve removed the blanket posted on May 27th from the charity count. One of my family members is turning 50 and I promised them a blanket. The blanket you see in the May 27th post are the exact colours I needed therefore I’ve pulled it from my charity blanket count
The latest blanket is another stash buster blanket. This year I’m determined to whittle my way through my stash. For this rectangle granny blanket I went until the pink ran out. I have some of the burgundy left but I need it for another WIP. Yahoo, I’ve completed blanket #5! If I can continue this pace I’m on target to finish 12 blankets by the end of the year. It will be even better if I can surpass my yearly goal.
If you look back on a previous post you will see where I recently spent time learning how to do Bavarian Crochet. I took the piece that I was working on and expanded it to create a large granny square. Bavarian Crochet looks nice but it uses a lot of yarn and I found it to take considerable more time to work up a piece. I had planned on making the blanket a bit larger but I didn’t have a sufficient quantity of the purple to continue on the rotation of colours sequence I had created. That the problem when you use yarn that was purchase a while ago, sometimes it is no longer available :-( |
