The granny square, because of its simplicity or sometimes because it is associated with a generation past, is often maligned in some crochet circles as not a true reflection of the art of crochet. Whatever... I love them. Take this blanket for example. What better way of using up odds and ends. It’s hard to tell but I used 16 different variegated yarns in this blanket. Since it’s difficult to see patterns when you use variegated yarns therefore I elected to go with the straightforward granny square. I used a join-as-you-go black border which caused the colours to pop.
