This looks like it is going to be a very long winter; it's Groundhog Day and the groundhog did see his shadow so another 6 weeks of this cold and snow. To take my mind off what is happening outside I decided it was a perfect time to work with some vibrant colours.

The original pattern suggests that the end product should be a pram blanket. I’ve used a larger hook and enlarged the blanket. I also elected to not do the edging.
Blanket #1, yahoo!!! I decided to get at least one blanket behind me before I had to seriously start studying for my next set of exams. Going forward the pace for completing my projects will totally be determined by my study schedule so stay tuned to see how I’m doing.
Have you ever purchased yarn and wondered later what were you thinking? That’s what I think about this orange/red variegated yarn and the pink/green combination from the last blanket of 2013. At the time it seemed a no-brainer to stock up when I found the pounders for only $1.59/ball, but I swear it seems like the stash of these colours will never diminish. Just when I think I’ve finally through the yarn I find another stash of it, I swear the stuff multiplies in the middle of the night. :-)
Here’s the final tally for my 2013 personal goals ... 11 blankets and 12 hats for charity.
It’s a New Year and time to wipe the slate clean and start afresh. I will set the same personal goals as last year... 12 blankets, 24 prs of slippers and 20 hats. I have a number of WIPs so hopefully I will be able to complete those projects over the next few months. While I won’t have weekly classes I still have a full exam to write in a few months so I will be juggling my crafting time again this year. Keep checking back to see the status of my crafting goals.
Tah dah... here it is, the last blanket of 2013, blanket #11. The calendar just wasn’t on my side allowing me time to complete one additional blanket to reach goal. Oh well, maybe next year.
I’m a few steps closer to those goals for blankets made as well as the goal for hats/headbands. I’m about to start blanket #11. If I get the chance I will also try and add 2-3 more hats/headbands to the count. We’re practically at the eve of the New Year and the clock is ticking...
It’s December 23rd and time to take stock of where I’m at in reaching my personal crafting goals for 2013. It’s not looking good but I have to do a reality check, between working full-time and studying part-time there hasn’t been a lot of time left over to craft. Even with being indoors all weekend due to an ice storm and even the office being shut down today as a result of the same storm it’s doubtful that I will reach my target goals. Oh well c’est la vie. These fingers can only move so fast. On a positive note whatever items are made between now and December 31st will help in some small way meet the needs of a member (s) of our community.
Here’s Blanket # 9; I’ve got 3 more to go in order to reach my goal of 12 for this year. This one is somewhat oversized but as we all know people come in all shapes and sizes so this will fulfill someone’s need.
Isn’t it fantastic! On December 7th the Toronto Hookups Guild had their annual Christmas meeting. Everyone is welcome to enter into the Secret Santa exchange and this is what I came home with. My first thought was how much yarn can I stuff in the carrier? Only a true stashaholic would automatically equate any empty receptacle as additional storage unit for yarn....ROFLOL
I’ve finished the “Squares Gone Wild” blanket. Now that the courses I was taken are finished I have a bit more time to devote to crocheting, yahoo!!
Four more blankets to go to I reach my personal goal for this year. I'm hoping I can make it. I have other blankets in various stages of completion so I'm hoping I can make g
